"What's this?" Mitch said as he looked at his screen, "It's still going?"

Mitch was a man in his early twenties, home with his family for the summer. It was 2014, and last year was the start of the Year of Luigi. Luigi was always his favorite video game character, and seeing him getting this much attention was surely a pleasure, especially when so many great games were made in his honor. He just wanted to be known to have done a notable thing in honor of the year.

Actually, he did! His brother, Sam, was a high-schooler on March 19, 2013. He still is, but whatever. He had a Miiverse account, and wasn't home when Mitch came for a visit. While he was home, he went onto Miiverse to see all the comments being made as the clock was about to strike 3:00 P.M. and the Year of Luigi would officially end. Except, none of his clocks were at the right hour, so how would he know when the final comment happens? How would he know when the year ends? Annoyed, he typed into Miiverse, under Sam's name:

"ARRRRRRR!!!! I have no clock that has the right time! How do I know when its overe?!?!"

Posting it, he realized that he misspelt "over". He went into the comment section to make a grammar fix, but he wasn't allowed to comment. Confused and angry at the system, he went back to make a new post... but couldn't. He was about to say the Wii U was busted, until he pressed Y by accident and reloaded the page. Nothing changed. His post was on top, and no one else could comment.

That's when he realized: he made the last Year of Luigi comment.

3 months passed since then, and he always kept the post bookmarked to see the Yeahs rack up. They already stacked up to over 10,000, and they were still going! He sure felt satisfied, but Sam didn't. His brother stopped by so he could take the Luigi Spotlight under his name! Mitch assured that Sam wouldn't be home in time to even get the chance, but Sam was still left upset.

Mitch didn't care, he was just happy today. He had just gotten an email from a Nintendo employee, apparently, because the Miiverse account was linked to his email address. Reading it, Mitch realized he definitely got the longest end of the stick:

"Hello, Sam!

Thank you for participating in the Year of Luigi. We hope you've enjoyed celebrating 30 years with such great new titles as Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, New Super Luigi U, and Dr. Luigi. He excused the "You" as either a typo, a beta name, or just a sequel name. Whatever. Mitch checked the time (the clocks were correct this time). He had 10 minutes to play the beta before his brother came home to hate on him for playing it first. He grabbed his phone, opened up the mail app, and ran downstairs.

Turning on the Wii U and entering the code, he was shocked to see that the download took less than a minute, and didn't even take him to the receipt screen on anything. Straight to the download. Don't question it, you have 7 minutes.

Booting the game up, he found... something interesting. Now he understood why it was in beta: this was a much more grande game. The title screen had the usual Luigi walking towards the right, except it was a castle background, like the final level, with a remix of the airship fortress theme from Super Mario Bros. 3. This was probably going to have an actual story!

Pressing start, the title disappeared as a text box appeared in the middle of the screen:

"Thank you for downloading the beta of New Super Luigi You! We hope you enjoy the Luigi game that puts You in the story. So sit back and enjoy the game as we adjust your experience."

Well, that explains the You, but Mitch just passed the rest of it to the side.

Text appeared on the top of the screen as Luigi continued walking, saying: "Level Prologue: No Pretty Discovery".

Mitch finally got to control Luigi as he got to something that... honestly made him lose faith: a tutorial section. In a Mario game. Well, at least there were no control basics being taught, just some very straightforward obstacles, so Mitch continued on as his "game experience" began to adjust when his controller started glowing.

The hands holding the glowing controller were being affected by the glow, which was making his manly hands shrunk down in size a good extent, losing much of their masculinity as the skin became softer and the fingers slimmed down and lengthened. The body hair on his hands shrunk back into him, as the skin he'd spent all of last summer tanning was now lightening and paling to a stereotypical white skin. By now, his hands looked like those of a completely different woman, but the glow was only spreading.

His arms were going through very similar changes to those of his hands. They were paling and slimming down, losing months of muscles and workouts, as his body hair retracted and the skin softened. But this time, the arms were shortening down a bit more, as the rest of its proportions shrunk down to match the size of the hands. Speaking of hands, a pair of white, perfectly-fitting gloves formed on them, and they extended down to her wrists with flower petal styled ends.

But Mitch was oblivious. He only cared about watching the clock, because if he didn't finish this Prologue in 5 minutes, he'd be dead.

The glow spread to his torso, where the same routine happened: skin softens and pales, body hair recedes. His entire torso was shrinking down in size and shortening a bit, losing tons of muscle and fat as his stomach caved inwards much more. His chest was also smaller now, but making up for this were two mounds of fat that gathered up in his chest, pushing out to form two small breasts. They put a small weight on him, but Mitch was too concentrated to notice. His neck also thinned out much more, slimming to the point of his Adam's Apple disappearing to leave him with a high-pitched, feminine voice.

As the glow went down to his hips, where the skin-hair routine happened again, they expanded outwards a bit, out to feminine proportions so his body would have more of an hourglass-shaped figure. His rear also swelled out to feminine proportions, lifting him a bit as he sat eying the clock and game. He almost missed a jump when he felt a sudden sensation down there, but he barely stuck the landing and shrugged off the pain. He didn't know that his masculine parts had shot up into him, and they were now reshaping and repurposing into female reproductive organs. A new... female private part formed there, as a wave of femininity blasted through his cells to switch the proper chromosomes out to the opposite gender. He had officially become a woman.

The changes moved down her legs and feet, skin-hair drill, as her legs shrunk down a tad and shortened a decent amount. Her thighs were the most prominent feature, but her legs were now much leaner and more feminine as the remaining muscles inside strengthened and stretched, making her much more flexible. Her feet shrunk down much more, as her toes and toenails extended out more to give her feet a feminine look.

To match all this, her clothing was changing before she could notice how big it all was on her. Her shirt and sweatpants merged together to form a single article of clothing, as it all became orange. His shirt area tightened to fit his tiny arms and torso, as the sleeves shortened far back to short-sleeve length. A white flower-styled lining formed at the sleeve ends, as his sleeves tightened there and at the shoulders to form a more puffed-out, circular shape. Another white flower-styled lining formed on the shirt's collar area, around her neck, as a viridian-green jewel with white flower-shaped rims formed on the chest portion. Also, underneath, an orange bra formed around her chest to support her new breasts.

His pants area shrunk back a bit, as his pant legs merged together into one mass for both legs. It tightened a bit more around the hips, taking advantage of their growth to spread out more around her legs. Around the hip area, drapes of a darker orange color formed, extending a little past her hips. Many folds formed around the bottom of the single pant leg, as the edges gained a lining the same color as the drapes. The pant leg thickened out much more, as it separated into two layers, one of which shortened back a bit to complete her new double-layer orange gown. Her underwear tightened on her, becoming orange and shrinking into a pair of panties. Her socks completely disappeared, as her sneakers shrunk down to fit her new feet. They lost their laces and most of the material on top, as they thinned out and became orange. In back of each shoe, on bottom, a mass extended out to form a pair of orange high heels.

Mitch had made it to Bowser at this point, with 2 minutes to play. Bowser actually developed plot with his speech bubble:

"Luigi! How dare you enter my castle without my permission! Whatever you have come here for, you will leave empty handed, so I command you to leave or I shall finish you!"

With that, he roared and began shooting fire. As Mitch concentrated on this boss fight, the final changes were going on on her head.

The skin on her head softened, losing whatever facial hair it had as it became as paled as I'd described it before. Her ears shrunk back a bit, rounding out more as earrings shaped like the jewel on her chest hung down from each ear. Her lips took on a much lighter shade of pink as her nose shrunk down a good amount, becoming much more petite. Her eyes took on massive growth, growing to outgrow the size of her ears as they rounded out and became blue. On each eye, two eyelashes thickened out and lengthened out to the side. Her eyebrows move farther up her forehead, thinning out and lengthening. Finally, her blonde hair become much more curly, as its color changed to titian, and it lengthened a great amount. In front, her hair lengthened a good deal to form two big wing-styled bangs that parted down the middle. In back, it lengthened down to her neck as, once again, it parted into two massive wing-styled curls. Finalizing the physical changes was a golden crown, decorated with more flower-shaped green jewels, that formed on top of it all.

With a minute left, Mitch ran under Bowser and pressed the button, which lowered the axe on the bridge and sent him into the lava. Luigi did his usual celebration, as he walked on, very confused to not find anyone, or anything, there. Just an empty cage. Luigi looked confused, Mitch looked confused, what a miserable day for everyone.

Another text box appeared as Mitch heard Bowser's roar:

"Ah! You see? Nothing there! I don't know what you came here for, but you're looking in the wrong castle! I didn't take anything!"

"Oh course not!" another voice said with a text box, "I did!"

As if on cue, a familiar enemy from one of Mitch's favorite Mario games appeared: the purple alien in a spaceship known as Tatanga, from Super Mario Land. But Mitch was confused, because what exactly did he take?

"Haven't seen me in a while?" Tatanga said, "Actually, you've never seen the great Tatanga before, green 'hero'! After a long absence, I'm back doing what I do best: glorious technology I use for kidnappings! I've already 'taken' your pal's old self with what I designed in his, or should I say, her controller!"

Confused, Mitch looked down at her controller to find white gloves on her hands, if you could even call them her hands anymore! Shocked, she examined the rest of her body to feel familiar hair with a familiar crown, and see a familiar dress with nothing masculine hiding underneath.

"What the..." Mitch started, frightened, stopping to hear a voice exactly like that of Princess Daisy's. That's when she realized that that was exactly what just happened to her: this game had taken her body away and given her this new one belonging to Daisy!

Mitch was scared now, especially when the text started scrolling on its own:

"Only one more step to take!"

With that, he pushed a button in his ship, which did nothing on screen. But his controller glowed a white light, as large bolts of electricity blasted from the HOME Button onto Mitch. Mitch screamed, as her memories of being Mitch were being stripped from her in place of Daisy's memories of being the tomboyish Princess of Sarasaland, with an affection for the man in green and... well, she remembered being kidnapped just now by Tatanga, not knowing anything about the device or controller. When the memories were finished being implanted, her body and clothes glowed as white as the controller as both glows faded, and Mitch was nowhere there.

And just when the front door was opening, too.

Sam walked downstairs to find that, once again, Mitch had taken the fun out of what he was going to do by starting this... weird-looking Luigi game where a purple alien has kidnapped Princess Daisy. Walking over, he saw text boxes of... the usual cries for help and evil laughs. The alien flew away with Daisy, as Luigi followed after.

It was now on the regular title screen, with cheerful music and a regular background.

"Weird intro," Sam said, "guess the game didn't actually start."

Sam started the game, and was set up on the first world. He decided to get through as much as he could today before starting his work. He didn't see much purpose in saving Daisy of all characters, but if his brother could leave a big impact on Luigi, so could he. He started Level 1, ready to save her.
